Mr Robinson on Park Blvd Now Open

Mr. Robinson in the corner of Park Blvd and Robinson Ave in Hillcrest is ready to add 29 rental apartment to the Hillcrest market.

After seventeen months of demolition, cement pouring, traffic congestions and noise, the project is finally ready for move-ins.

The seven-story building offers one and two bedroom apartments. All units facing Robinson Ave (south) have three walls of glass, and residents will have to rely on closing their blinds to have privacy from their neighbors.

The sidewalk on Robinson Ave is finally open to pedestrians, one that was closed for a while. Fortunately, the landscaping in place is not bad.

The building exterior is poured-in-place concrete and glass, and the minimalist exterior has good aesthetics. The unsightly exposed galvanized electric pipe and balcony drainage pipe that runs from top to bottom (above) is something that bothers me. I feel this is something that should be hidden.

Trust Restaurant will open in the 2,600 square-foot corner ground floor space that includes a 1,300 square-foot outdoor patio. This is definitely a welcome addition to the Hillcrest.

The second ground floor space appears to be set for a coffee place coming in spring 2016.

I had a chance to see some units and none of the master bedrooms I saw had closets. They included a full master bathroom, but no closet. The second bedrooms thought, included a closet but no master bathroom. I find this strange. Also, the stackable washer/dryer closets have no doors, and other than the kitchen cabinets, there is a lack of storage space.

On the other hand, most units take advantage of some amazing skyline views to Hillcrest, North Park and even Downtown San Diego.
